Description

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 Lens is a compact wide-angle prime with intuitive handling, and has an advanced optical design.

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 Lens is a wide-angle prime with intuitive handling, and has an advanced optical design.

The lens has an advanced optical design, and is a 24mm equivalent lens for Micro Four Thirds Mirrorless cameras.

The wide focal length pairs with the bright f/2 maximum aperture to benefit available light shooting as well as astrophotography applications.

The lens’s optical design makes use of one aspherical element, one DSA (Double Super Aspherical) element, and a Super HR (high refractive index) element to reduce spherical aberrations, and control distortion for notable sharpness, and one extra-low dispersion element reduces color fringing for high clarity and color accuracy.

Additionally, the lens is characterized by its Movie & Still Compatible autofocus system for quick and quiet performance, as well as a manual focus clutch and Snapshot Focus mode for intuitive control over focus position and depth of field.

  • Wide-angle prime lens is designed for Micro Four Thirds Mirrorless cameras and offers a 24mm equivalent focal length.
  • Bright f/2 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.
  • Aspherical, DSA, and Super HR elements combine to control distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness and resolution.
  • One extra-low dispersion element minimizes chromatic aberration and color fringing for greater clarity and color fidelity.
  • Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus system benefits both photo and video applications due to its smooth, quiet, and fast performance.
  • Manual focus clutch lets you quickly pull the focusing ring into place for direct, intuitive focus control. This also reveals the Snapshot Focus mode, which incorporates a depth of field scale for working with hyperfocal focusing and zone focusing techniques.
  • Rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth bokeh quality.

Good low light performance and depth of field control

The lens features a super-fast maximum aperture of f/2, which enables the lens to transfer up to 8 times more light to the sensor than a conventional zoom lens at the same focal length, and enables the camera to capture sharp and blur free images, even in low/dim light.

The large f/2 aperture, combined with the 7-blade aperture, also enables you to capture a shallow depth of field, which will enable you to isolate your subject from the background for visually striking images.

Special lens elements

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 lens features an optical construction that includes two aspherical elements, one ED element, and one super HR element.

These elements work together to effectively reduce aberrations to provide sharp images.

Fast and near silent internal MSC autofocus system with manual override

A MSC autofocus system, along with an internal focusing design, provides quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance to benefit both still photo shooting and movie recording. Additionally, an MF clutch is used for fast changing to manual focus for more precise control.

Officially compatible with DJI’s X5, X5S , and X5R gimbals

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 lens is officially compatible with DJI’s Zenmuse X5, X5S, and X5R gimbals for use in drones and handheld gimbals such as the Osmo Pro/Raw.
